Superlatively Successful Show

Bosque Arts Center scholarship fundraiser delivers entertaining evening of music & merriment

CLIFTON - Weaving through the seasons, band and cast of the Bosque Arts Center scholarship show brought an exceedingly entertaining and fun variety show to the stage Feb. 1.

Summer brought beautiful butterfly dancing in the breeze – a magical performance by Kari Dudik.

Fall had head witch Carla Sigler casting several silly spells until she was joined by her crazy coven of witches to create man in their cauldron.

Winter was all about bells and belles bringing both hilarity and seduction to the stage.

Spring brought Dr. Green, played by Adam Willmann, marketing carrots to the forefront, bringing a series of crazy characters from an assortment of rabbits, orange flappers and Playboy bunnies into the spotlight.

Brian Barrett with son Brice on drums and Dennis Willingham on electric guitar provide the musical entertainment at the Bosque Arts Center “Celebrate the Seasons” scholarship fundraising dinner and variety show Feb. 1.

Under the expert direction and production of Janet Jackson and partner-in-crime Nancy Bratcher, participants in the show put their shyness and modesty away, stepped into the spotlight to perform the zany, camp and kooky series of skits, giving it their all – all in the name of raising funds for the BAC scholarships.

The duo Jackson/Bratcher have been doing these amazing variety shows together for the past eight years – nine shows in total. The shows take a year of planning, months of rehearsal, days of costume fittings, hours of make-up and several harrowing minutes on stage for the participants.

BAC patrons know how entertaining the scholarship fundraiser is, and tickets were snapped up within the first hour of going on sale. To accommodate those too late to secure a dinner seat, extra seating was available for those not wanting to miss the show. Because of the overwhelming success, in 2021, the popular show will be performed on two consecutive nights.

Up to date, the BAC has provided over $90,000 in college scholarships over the past 8 years for Bosque County seniors. This year’s recipients are Viviana Benitez, Samantha Berg, Hunter Bridgefarmer, Shannon Glover, Brett Johnson and Blaine Taylor.

When filling their envelope with donations, patrons could name their favorite act – the winner will grace the cover of the calendar featuring all the acts. Buying the calendar fills up the scholarship fund coffer even more.
