Vegas On The Bosque

Shake, rattle & roll all the way to Vegas Weekend: 41st Annual Big Event fundraiser for the Bosque Arts Center presents Casino Night & Elvis In The House tribute concert during the two-day event beginning March 31

Viva Las Vegas, baby! Think sparkle, think Lucky ladies, think dice, cards and roulette, think professional croupiers in uniform, think slot machines, think endless evening entertainment with The King himself. And all that right around the corner. No flying to Vegas, or Reno, just a short drive to the Bosque Arts Center. With their 41st Annual Big Event fundraiser, the Bosque Arts Center combines fun, food and festivities into a two-evening extravaganza, along with a fundraising e-auction.

Bring the Bling – put on that glittery dress, adorn yourself with jewels, wear that bow tie and the gold cufflinks, then shake that money bag for Friday night’s Casino Royale in the Tin Building Theatre. Casino Night gambling games roll out at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 31 as a part of the BAC Big Event fundraising weekend. After three hours of “gambling,” funny fund wins can be traded for a wide array of prizes, awarded at 10 p.m.

Additionally, Elvis will make a quick guest appearance during the fun evening of casino games. The night will be BYOB with tickets costing $50 per person and may be purchased in advance or at the door. For ticket information visit the BAC website at http://www.BosqueArtsCenter.org or call 254-253-0690.

Of course, no Las Vegas weekend would be complete without “The King.” So shake, rattle and roll when The Big Event brings “Elvis in the House” on Saturday evening with Elvis tribute artist Al Joslin performing, backed by the Clinton Wayne Sturgeon band and the Linda Lee singers.

Joslin is a multi-award-winning Elvis Tribute Artist from Houston who has taken his show across the country and overseas for the past 15 years. Considered one of the top Elvis tribute artists in the business, multiple times he finished in the top five in the world at the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis. Joslin loves performing every era of Elvis, and considers it the highest privilege to give tribute to the greatest entertainer of all time.

Hospitality hour allows guests to view dozens of amazing silent auction and raffle items at 5 p.m. Raffle items include prime Texas Ranger baseball tickets, gift certificates and cards, designer jewelry and handbags, art and more. A catered dinner at 6 p.m. by Olaf’s Restaurant and the presentation of the Joan Spieler Lifetime Achievement Award follows the hospitality. The annual award recognizes overall longtime contributions to the Bosque Art Center and was first presented in 1997 to Spieler, generally considered the founder of BAC. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets for the evening are $250. Tickets to the concert only are $50 - $75.

Over the years, the Big Event has evolved with the times to best reflect today’s changing technical world. An online auction dubbed e-BAC available to bidders beyond the confines of the Tin Building Theatre has taken the place of the Big Event live auction since 2019 with great success.

The online auction contains getaway packages with fun multiple-night stays, diamond jewelry, designer purses, premium wines, and private dinners, along with an amazing variety original art by nationally renowned artists from the Cowboy Artists of America and Oil Painters of America Martin Grelle, Bruce Greene, Kathy Tate, Tyler Crow, Lloyd Voges, Ann Patton, George Boutwell, and more. Several of the paintings donated by artists and members, on sale during the online auction are displayed in the BAC atrium.  Also featured in auction is photography from Vickie Mitchell, Marvin Grelle and Richard Haas.

The popular gun and ammo raffle is back as well. Only 300 tickets will be sold for a Ruger American Predator 308-caliber rifle with 100 rounds of hunting ammunition. Chances are 1 for $50 or 3 for $100. This year’s e-BAC runs from 9 a.m on March 22 to March 29 at 9 p.m. Visit the e-auction website at: eBAC. Visit http://www.BosqueArtsCenter.org or call 254-675-3724 for more information and tickets for this annual fundraiser for the nonprofit arts organization in Clifton.
