Stitching Stars Celebrated

Diverse styles of quilting artistry on display during the 7th Annual Bosque Arts Center Quilt Show June 11-12

CLIFTON -- Come celebrate the superior stitching stars and their quilts. Come celebrate the colors, the fabrics, the diverse styles, patterns, designs and techniques of quilting at the 7th Annual Bosque Arts Center Quilt Show and Competition June 11-12. Due to COVID-19 restrictions on group gatherings, this popular BAC event was cancelled in 2020, but it is back with incredibly beautiful quilts on display, the most ever.

Friday and Saturday, June 11-12, the show will be open to the public for $6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is also invited to attend a special gathering for the Award and Vendor reception on Thursday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. At the reception, the award winners will be announced and the vendors will be introduced. There will be appetizers provided by the BAC Quilt Guild.

This year, the list of awards has grown, with over $1,700 in prize money. There is the usual Best of Show, the Special Artist’s Recognition, People’s Choice, Judge's Choice and NACQJ awards, along with the newer Best Art Quilt Award. Two new awards added this year are Top Handwork and the Nancy Pugh Memorial Award -- honoring one of the original members of the BAC Quilt Guild who also provided quilting classes at the BAC. The Quilt Guild has donated the prize money for this award. In total, close to $2000 will be awarded in prizes.

In addition to the quilts on view, expect to find an assortment of vendor booths, including Hayward Erwin back again to sharpen scissors and knives to perfection, several quilt-specific vendors, and a variety of other non-vendor booths.

Lunch concessions will be available both Friday and Saturday. The Raffle Quilt will be awarded on Saturday, with the drawing held at 3:45 p.m. For more information, contact Deb Phinney at the Bosque Arts Center at 254-675-3724.
