Capturing the West in Art

A Sight To Behold: As an exceptional representational art show & sale, the 39th Annual Bosque Art Classic opens at Bosque Arts Center Sept. 14 with 179 pieces representing over 100 artists

CLIFTON – No matter how skilled or talented, having your art work judged by your peers holds excitement, but also anxiety. Will the selecting committee deem your work worthy for the show? And if so, will your work be good enough for a prize or honorable mention, which ultimately helps with sales?

The Bosque Arts Center’s juried representational art exhibition is widely known for the variety of quality work it draws from across the nation, making it worth the risk of shipping your artwork. This year the Bosque Art Classic premieres its 39th annual show with a sale and awards dinner on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Bosque Arts Center in Clifton.

Being judged by the illustrious and very successful Cowboy Artist of America and one of the Bosque Seven, Martin Grelle adds another level of gravitas to the juried show. Over 100 artists made it into the 2024 exhibition with 179 pieces selected to adorn the Roland Jones Memorial Gallery for the two weeks. The show features works of talented newcomers and award-winning show veterans.

With a preponderance of western pieces, the exhibition sponsored by the Art Council of the BAC also highlights exquisite still lifes, landscapes, portraits, and more. Over $15,000 will be awarded opening night to deserving artists, including the $5,000 John Steven Jones Purchase Award. Purchase awarded art becomes a part of the Bosque Arts Center's Permanent Collection. This collection is displayed throughout the year for the public to enjoy for free.

Together with other Bosque Seven members Tony Eubanks and Bruce Greene CA, Grelle serves as advisor to the BAC art council.

After the opening weekend sale, remaining pieces may also be purchased online Monday, September 16, through Saturday, September 28. The gallery of the 179 selected pieces can already be viewed at https://www.bosqueartscenter.org/Gallery.aspx. As usual the Oil/Acrylic with 101 pieces is the largest category, followed by 26 in Drawing, 19 in Water Media, 15 in Pastels and 10 sculptures.

Every brushstroke in every piece in this exceptional exhibition and sale tells a beautiful and artistic story; each composition captures a special mood or scene; each piece grabs onto the viewers imagination and are worth seeing up close, in situ in the exquisite Roland Jones Memorial Gallery.
